Wine enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting line-up of events, which include wine tastings and interactions with the crème de la crème of South African winemakers culminating in the 23rd Nedbank CWG Auction to be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on Saturday, 27 September 2008.

The public events leading up to the Auction include a sports day of boules and golf, an exclusive gala dinner and the informal final Pre-Auction Tasting.

The prestigious Nedbank CWG Auction offers wine enthusiasts and the wine trade the rare opportunity of bidding for exceptional and unique wines crafted exclusively for the Auction by South Africa’s leading winemakers.

Nedbank CWG Gala Diner
Date: Thursday, 18 September from 18h30 to 22h00
Venue: Groot Constantia Wine Estate
Ticket Price: R550 per person

Join the members of the Guild for their annual charity dinner. Each table will be hosted by a different winemaker who has selected their favourite wine to complement the meal. Guests will be able to bid for exclusive wines and wine-related items at the fun Charity Auction and will also be able to stroll around the historical homestead and Cloete Cellar at Groot Constantia, South Africa’s oldest wine estate, before supper.

CWG Sports Day – Golf and Boules Competitions
Date: Thursday 25 September from 10h30 to 22h00
Venue: De Zalze Golf Course, R44, Stellenbosch
Price: Golfers – R490 per person and Boules – R390 per person

Join the members of the Guild for a game of golf or boules with wonderful prizes to be won. The price includes a halfway house lunch and buffet dinner with wonderful CWG wines.

CWG Final pre-Auction Tasting

A formal tutored tasting where wine enthusiasts can sample the 2008 Auction wines before placing their bids at the Nedbank CWG Auction the next day.

Venue: Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), Ballroom West, 1st Floor
Open to all, the CWG Auction offers bidders exclusive wines specially created for the occasion by South Africa’s leading winemakers. Wine enthusiasts unable to attend can make use of the Guild’s professional proxy bidding and telephonic bidding services. First-time Auction-goers will be required to pay a refundable deposit of R2000.00 to bid.
