This is a factory outlet for the public and its quality cheeses are the best value for money you’ll find. The premises were recently revamped and enlarged but its offerings remain the same. Best is the low-fat cottage cheese and feta sold in one to five litre tubs. The texture of the cottage cheese is fantastic and it’s half the price of anything you would find in supermarkets. Ditto the feta. You’ll have to visit to find your own favourites.

Several supermarkets and delicatessens stock the charcuterie of this German butchery, but it’s worth travelling to the outskirts of the city as the prices are much lower here and you can sample the frikadellen and caraway-crusted smoked pork belly. Tradition is respected and is evident in the pâtés, which range from a textured country to a smooth duck pâté. The smoked duck breast and smoked boerewors can’t be found at any other outlets.
