- Totally Wild Cape Aloe and Baobab juice
-
The guys from Totally Wild first became known for turning the bitter juice of the aloe ferox into a refreshing, fruity tipple. Ever at the forefront of invention, they've recently turned to the Afro-indigenous baobab tree for inspiration, combining its juice (which tastes like a cross between pear and apple) with that of the aloe. The result is a surprisingly tasty, health-bursting drink chockfull of soluble fibre, Vitamin C, minerals and anti-oxidants. Plus, they won the award for Best New Product at the 2011 SAB Eat In Produce Awards.

Perhaps the makers of this juice (and the panel of Eat In judges) can explain to us how it is possible to harvest baobab juice sustainably? This extremely slow-growing plant seems to me not the right species upon which to base a commercial exploitation programme.
